The Ultra-High-Carbon knives have a carbon content of 1.5%-2.0%, and are hardened to 66-68 Rockwell, making them some of the toughest knives available.  The quality of Roselli has been independently tested many times, and the UHC is internationally recognized as the hardest steel in any modern knife, unmatched compared to any other premium brand on Earth.

This is a compact, pocket-sized workhorse with the ability to fit any space, and is therefore highly likely to become your most used backcountry knife. The blade is made from UHC (Ultra High Carbon) steel and the handle is cut from heat treated curly birch, coated with linseed oil – which ensure a firm grip, even when wet.

Comes with handcrafted sheath of dark vegetable tanned Finnish leather.

Crafted, sharpened and perfected by hand in Harmoinen, Finland.

Bear claw knife

This is a really nice knife. It feels so natural in your hand, and with your index finger extended it feels just like an extension of your finger, which is great if you use it on deer or bigger game. It did not seem real sharp so I made a few passes on a shapton glass stone 2000 grit and it got WAY sharper than I would use on game. When I resharpen I will use 500 grit at most as I like a real toothy edge. As far as the sheath, it holds the knife very well, but please be careful inserting into the sheath, the point will stick into whatever it touches first, just feel your way along. Oh, and the handle is very grippy, I love it.

Unbelievable

I am a woodcarver that enjoys a larger knife until the final stages. I also like tossing hardwoods into the mix. Upon receiving this knife, it had an overly blunt convexed grind, more like an axe. I spent a bit of time on my DMT Diasharp plates making it a much nicer (for carving) scandi grind. It’s superbly lightweight. I have been exceedingly impressed with its ability to retain a very fine edge. At first I was concerned the height of the blade would cause problems with any detail oriented work. I’m happy to report that it has not. I’m guessing this is due to the blade quickly coming to a nice strong point. Moving onto the handle. It’s perfect. Size is good for a large range of hand sizes. Good shape for literally all the different cuts that anyone in any profession/hobby/chore uses. It is pretty wood also. No blister causing lacquer coating either. Now for the Sheath. I have not carried this knife in the sheath, so I am not able to give an accurate account for its durability. It fits snug and should not cut through, due to a plastic insert. It should fit any standard belt size up to the military nylon belts. (Not Alice ILBE type) you could however, easily turn it into a true dangler. That sums up my experience with this wonderful tool. P.S. I recently purchased the longer Carpenter in their UHC for those larger tasks. I expect the same excellent results.

Worth it

I received the UHC Bearclaw as a Gift. While I haven’t sharpened it yet (I imagine that it will take a little more work and care than sharpening a laminated knife with softer steel like an older Mora), this knife feels great, came sharp and has an excellent shape and size for an EDC or general carving knife. I have done some light carving with it, and really enjoy using it. I have handled a smaller Roselli blade (which I use for detail carving). The stock curly birch handle that Roselli made the knife with is high quality and feels great in the hand. The UHC Steel seems to keep an edge exceptionally well (so far), and I look forward to putting this knife to heavy use. It is also a very beautiful piece, and the price is very fair for a non-custom knife that is so well made. If you are looking for a small woodworking or everyday hiking knife, don’t hesitate to treat yourself to one of these.
