The Ultra-High-Carbon knives have a carbon content of 1.5%-2.0%, and are hardened to 66-68 Rockwell, making them some of the toughest knives available.  The quality of Roselli has been independently tested many times, and the UHC is internationally recognized as the hardest steel in any modern knife, unmatched compared to any other premium brand on Earth.

This is Roselli's take on the ultimate multi tool, a universal knife with a convenient size.  The design is based on traditional whittling knives, made for getting work done, no fuss. This is the knife for both the workshop and the woods, and the delicate blade has made it a popular all-round hunting companion, as it lends itself well to both large and small game.

The blade is made from UHC (Ultra High Carbon) steel and the handle is cut from heat treated curly birch, coated with linseed oil – which ensures a firm grip, even when wet.

Comes with handcrafted sheath of dark vegetable tanned Finnish leather.

Crafted, sharpened and perfected by hand in Harmoinen, Finland.

A carpenter's knife, not a utility knife

Very nice "fit and finish," nothing fancy, functional. Great handle, comfortable in hand. Very attractive. Sheath very nice too. Functional, not fancy. Spine about 1/8 inch, sharp edges, good for scraping a fire starter. I softened edges with a diamond hone to be more comfortable when pushing back of knife with thumb or fingers when carving. Tip of spine a bit rough, needed a touch up with hone. Grind is "apple seed" convex scandi, perhaps shaped on a slack belt grinder. Came with very small secondary bevel. Sharp but needed honing. UHC is brittle! Comparable to my white steel sashimi slicing knife. First use was to peal insulation from a 12 gauge wire. Chipped in 4 places where edge touched copper. Re-dressed edge with diamond hone (fine) and stropped on rough-out leather with yellow compound.. Takes and exceptional (!) shaving-sharp edge. Will use only for wood and perhaps flesh but do not touch bone, will chip. Overall, pleased with knife but will not be a daily field carry do to brittleness of edge. This is a carpenter's wood-cutting knife. As the name says.

Roselli carpenter in UHC

Ships fast. Great fit and Finnish. Knife blade had two small nicks in blade that stroped out without a problem. Knife was sharp out of the box much more sharp after stropping. Nothing but quality through out. Looking forward to a lifetime of adventures together.

My first scandi grind

I always like a good carbon steel knife for years and I have been drawn into the super steels and I have found my way back to the old fashioned carbon steel again. The Knives of the North recommended Roselli UHC. When I first started to sharpen it I had no idea what I was in for. To raise a burr is really a lot of work. I used a diamond Ex coarse bench plate and you will not believe how hard it is to get the edge to turn a burr. Not a few swipes on each side but hundreds. Don't be afraid. I you are holding to the flat scandi grind, you will not harm the blade by hand sharpening. As you continue your going to feel the blade lock into that angle and finally get to a burr. After that is smooth sailing. Just finer and finer as you want. Or you can just even the burr and use. It is unbelievable how sharp it will be. I would not use it for any type of work other than cutting as knife should. Use it with care and enjoy.

Finntastic Pukko!

I purchased this Pukko in a hardware store in Helsinki back in 1995. I was specifically looking for a simple well balanced knife that keeps an edge and has a broad spine for carving. I also wanted a knife not too ornate that I would feel like it couldn't be used. For almost 30 years this Pukko has been my favorite and most used knife. I consider it a tool and hunting companion. The blade is now still sharp but maybe 2/3rds of it's original size - due to much use and sharpening over the years. Thanks to the internet I see it's still made and exact to my original! I just purchased a new one and cannot wait for it to arrive!
