These stones are about halfway between medium and fine, maybe around 1000 grit. They're useful for most sharpening tasks, whether the knife just needs a quick touch-up or is duller and requires more work to get it back into use. This small stone is around 3" long, 1" wide and 1/4" thick. The stone comes loose, without a carrying case or box.
