Knives of the North sells high quality Scandinavian knives by Morakniv from Sweden. Mora, Sweden, has been very well-known as the center for Scandinavian knife-making culture for more than 400 years. Morakniv, is the result of a merger between two of the largest knife manufacturers in Mora: Erikkson and Frost.
Morakniv knives are built for function. The characteristics of the knife blade is the main focus – high quality, design and sharpness. Morakniv carbon steel blades are hardened to 58 - 60 on the Rockwell scale, while stainless blades are hardened to 57 - 58. Some carbon steel Mora knives for sale have blades that are constructed from laminated steel: a layer of higher-carbon and harder (58 - 60 Rockwell) steel in the middle, sandwiched between two layers of lower-carbon, more durable steel to add strength. This results in a blade which is both tough, durable, and retains its sharpness without sacrificing blade strength.
Stainless steel Morakniv blades are constructed from Swedish Sandvik 12C27 steel, hardened to 56-58 Rockwell. Their method of treating, hardening, and polishing the knives is a well-kept secret. Mora knives are quality, durable knives suitable for bushcraft, hunting, camping and the outdoors.
