This knife follows a more traditional Lapplander design, with a flared pommel to help retain a firm grip while wearing gloves or mittens. The stainless steel blade is lightly etched with the Marttiini logo and a wilderness scene, and the curly birch handle is lightly lacquered and capped by a brass butt plate. The traditional deep-pouch style sheath is stitched up the back and is deep enough to take almost the entire length of the knife. It is nicely stamped and features both a belt loop attached by a metal ring, to allow for more flexibility while sitting or crouching, along with a partial insert to protect both the sheath and the hand if the knife is inserted incorrectly.

I was able to field dress, skin, and quarter a deer without having to stop to resharpen this knife. Usually I have to stop and resharpen a knife twice to go through this process. This knife is big enough to field dress large game but small enough to clean small game like hares. Great shape and design.
And 50 years later! Bought both my reindeer skinning knives in Helsinki and used them for fishing ever since. Zero rust or wear. My prized possessions. Highly recommended.
